On October 20th, The Comparative Literature Department celebrated the retirement of Professor Arnold Weinstein after over 50 years of service. The department hosted a reception to honor the career of Prof. Weinstein — many of his former students were in attendance, and were thrilled to have the chance to revisit their mentor and commemorate this milestone with him. Department members and Comp Lit alumni paid tribute to Arnold by way of speeches, gifts, publication projects, and even song. The evening was closed out with a heartfelt and speech from Arnold himself.
It is evident that Prof. Weinstein’s 50-year career at Brown has made an extraordinary and lasting impact on students and colleagues, old and new. The Department of Comparative Literature thanks Arnold for his decades of dedicated service and congratulates him on his well-deserved retirement!
